Since talking to darkmoustache earlier he got me talking about Transformers, and now I have found this interesting game that has the potential to be a good-un. (well for me anyway)
A Transformers game that doesn't have Michael Bay's stink all over it? It's actually happening! Activision has revealed (http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64957&st=0), via Game Informer, that Transformers: Battle for Cybertron is an all-new game slated for 2010, and it's going to be inspired by ... Gears of War?
Battle for Cybertron is an interesting proposition -- while the Transformers will not be appearing as their clunky Generation 1 selves, they also won't be the shambolic horrors seen in Michael Bay's movie. They resemble the comic book versions more than anything -- traditional, but a bit more sleek and stylized -- and are specifically reminiscent of the War Within art style. Megatron will transform into a tank, since a Walther PPK makes for bad gameplay.
It's going to be a third-person shooter, and players will be able to play both as Autobots and Decepticons. High Moon Studios (the Bourne guys) will be developing and the game will hit Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms.
